Lawyer: We're 'finalizing' a libel lawsuit against Elon Musk over 'pedo' tweet

Tesla's greatest invention is its'Hype Machine

The insinuation here seems to be Unsworth hasn't sued Musk because he is in fact a "pedo" as Musk put it.

Musk didn't take kindly to that statement, and retaliated with now-deleted tweets insisting Unsworth is a paedophile. Responding to a Twitter user, Mr Musk said: "You don't think it's unusual [Mr Vernon] hasn't sued me?"

"I think sometimes people think I spend a lot of time in Twitter", he told the YouTuber Marques Brownlee earlier this month.

In a statement to Sky News after Musk's latest tweets, Unsworth said "It's all being dealt with, that's all I can say".

But Musk's decision to continue to respond to critics on Twitter indicates he won't change easily, said Charles Elson, a University of DE finance professor who specializes in corporate governance.

But Musk received a rude awakening in the form of a reply from attorney Wood, who tweeted that Musk "should check his mail before tweeting", and shared an image of the defamation notice. "If so, what did you actually do?" he said.

Unsworth called the submarine "a PR stunt" during an interview with CNN.

They culminated in a post that described Mr Unsworth as a "pedo guy" and a follow-up saying "bet ya a signed dollar it's true".

Musk is known for being unusually candid on Twitter compared to other CEOs, but he has become increasingly combative on the site this year, lashing out at critics and reporters and spurring questions about his judgment when using the site.

Musk has since apologised for making the baseless claim, adding that he had said it out of anger.

Mr Musk's younger brother - who is a board member of Tesla - defended his sibling's behaviour in a recent interview with the New York Times. The agency is reportedly investigating whether Musk was attempting to hurt the company's short-sellers when he published the tweet. Musk said on Friday that Tesla would remain public, but said he believed there was "more than enough funding" to take the company private.

Nelson, the founder of Seattle female-focused co-working space The Riveter, knew that if she cried at work or in public while representing her company, she would face the criticism often lobbed at women when they cry: that they are weak, not a leader, can't keep it together.

Unsworth said he has not ruling out taking legal action against Musk over the tweets.
