Officer-involved shooting at California Racetrack

A concert featuring Ice Cube was expected to go on as scheduled following a shooting Sunday evening in Del Mar Calif

CBS 8 in San Diego reports that the shooting occurred toward the end of the race day as fans were transitioning to attend a free Ice Cube concert at the Del Mar Fairgrounds that was part of an ongoing summer concert series in tandem with horse races.

The shooting took place during the 10th race. Citing witnesses, the outlet reports that a man who was waiting to get inside for the concert pulled out a gun and fired 3 rounds into the air.

Several deputies administered first aid to a man on the ground as they waited for EMTs to arrive, according to the footage.

The man had been trying to buy a ticket to the concert featuring the rapper Sunday at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in San Diego, the department said in a statement.

Twitter videos were shared showing TVG's on-air coverage of a race at the track and an announcer could be heard shouting "there is gun fire at the track". However, a video posted on Twitter appeared to show a man holding a handgun, with two deputies nearby.

The suspect was transported to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla and his condition is unknown at this time.

Shots rang out at the crowded venue around 7 p.m.
