Seattle Seahawks turn down second-round pick offer from Dallas Cowboys

Seahawks' Earl Thomas Ends Holdout:

Safety Earl Thomas announced Wednesday morning on Instagram his plan to report to the team, but indicated his displeasure over how his contract situation was handled.

"I worked my whole life for this...."

Thomas wrote, "The disrespect has been noted and will not be forgotten".

Seahawks rookie Shaquem Griffin will start at weakside linebacker when Seattle opens the regular season against the Broncos on Sunday.

"They believe the closer Seattle gets to the trading deadline with a disgruntled star who won't be back next season, the more conciliatory the Seahawks will become in their demands".

With Thomas now reporting to camp, a potential trade could be dormant.

In a post for The Players' Tribune earlier this summer, Thomas wrote that he was shaken by the injuries suffered by Richard Sherman and Kam Chancellor - two other members of Seattle's "Legion of Boom" secondary - in a Thursday night game last season.

Seattle had been thought wanting at least a second-round pick all along with it thought Dallas had not offered more than a third.

Thomas will apparently avoid becoming the first Seahawk since Kam Chancellor in 2015 to miss games due to a holdout. He later went on to say that the Seahawks wanted a "second round pick and change".

The offer was rebuffed, which fits with another one from last weekend that said multiple teams have inquired about a deal for Thomas only to find that the Seahawks' asking price is higher than they are willing to pay.

Thomas had been known back in Seattle, taking a picture with a worker at Sea-Tac airport on Monday, who posted it on Twitter.
