The "Trump Resistance" Op-Ed

Bob Woodward's book on the Trump administration, "Fear: Trump in the White House", hits bookstores Tuesday but has been making headlines for about a week as details leak out.

Woodward and his book - full title is Fear: Trump in the White House - clearly is getting under the president's skin.

Pressed on whether Trump can win a credibility battle with the Pulitzer victor who helped expose President Richard Nixon's Watergate-era transgressions, Sanders pointed to "actual, on record" accounts from White House staffers, again pointing to Mattis and Kelly, "not disgruntled former employees". Then, on Wednesday, a New York Times op-ed penned by an anonymous senior White House official claimed that a group within the administration is trying to "frustrate" parts of the president's agenda.

Among Trump's anti-Fear tweets today, the president quoted a Washington Examiner writer who cautioned, "You can not take this book too seriously".

In a series of Tweets Monday, the president continued to lash out at Woodward personally and his book's portrayal of Trump as a foul-mouthed and bumbling egotist. Many have already come forward to say the quotes by them, like the book, are fiction. Democrats can't stand losing.

"It's not every day that someone writes, and I'm quoting, 'we believe our first duty is to this country, and the president continues to act in a manner that is detrimental to the health of our republic, '" he said.

Cohn, who appears to have been an important source for the book, reportedly told Trump that printing huge amounts of money is seen as inflationary, but the president maintained an interest in the idea.

Longtime journalist Bob Woodward said Monday that Defense Secretary Jim Mattis and White House Chief of Staff John Kelly "are not telling the truth" when they deny making disparaging statements about President Donald Trump attributed to them in his new book, "Fear".

"We are in Crazytown", Kelly is quoted as telling a small group of confidants. He added, "He and I both know this story is total BS". "I don't talk the way I am quoted".

The book also quotes Mattis, after a contentious National Security Council meeting on January 19, as saying Trump acted like and had the understanding of "a fifth or sixth-grader".

In the normal practice of journalism, it's considered to be the job of a newspaper's own reporters, not anonymous government officials, to report on newsworthy political revelations, especially those with momentous implications.

That claim aside, people inside the West Wing say the identity of the writer remains a topic of heated discussion as reports emerged that a list of possible authors had been drawn up. None of these terms existed prior to Mr. Trump so one can say he created them in order to justify his campaign?

On Woodward's book, which will be released on Tuesday, Sanders reiterated the that numerous sources quoted in the book have denied what the Washington Post journalist reported and called Woodward's book "careless" and "reckless".
