India’s 12-member squad for second Test against Windies announced

"The kind of quality we have in the team, we understand that we will dominate in these conditions purely because we have done it so many times in the past", India captain Virat Kohli said.

That they could barely survive 50 overs in the first Test - getting bowled out in 48 and 50.5 overs in the two essays respectively to go down by an innings and 272 runs - is evidence that the Caribbeans lack application andare not quite up to the task.

Prithvi Shaw, 18, became India's youngest player to score a debut century and his country's second youngest in all Tests after the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, notching up a sparkling 134.

Rohit did not play any part in the domestic season a year ago as he was constantly on tour with the Indian team. But, Kohli's team might not be able to escape a sense of deja vu as it goes into the match. There was much hype surrounding the debuting batsman Prithvi Shaw and the Mumbai lad duly justified his selection in the team with a blistering debut century.

On the other hand, to add a third fast-bowler in the team, Shardul Thakur is likely to debut. We believe he can change games for us.

India started with the spin-pace combination of Kuldeep and Mohammad Shami.

Rahane has gone without a Test hundred for almost 14 months (last hundred came against Sri Lanka in August 2017).

Rohit was in fine form during the recently concluded Asia Cup but is not a part of India's Test squad for the series against Windies.

The visitors ended day two of the first Cricket Test at Rajkot with 94 runs on the board for the loss of six wickets.

Top-order batsman Bravo returns to the West Indies side after a two-year gap for the three Twenty20 Internationals in India.

Left-handed opener Kieran Powell hit an attacking 83 while Chase chipped in with 20 but the Indian spinners weaved a web around the tourists, further extending their 24-year wait for a victory on Indian soil.

With tea beckoning, West Indies struck twice to temporarily stall India's progress.

Shannon Gabriel, Devendra Bishoo, Roston Chase and debutant Sherman Lewis have all taken a wicket a piece.

While Ravichandran Ashwin (4/37) was the pick of the bowlers in the morning, Kuldeep Yadav (5/57) was all over the opposition batsmen in the second innings on way to a maiden five-wicket haul in Tests.

Match starts at 9:30am (IST).
