Minnesota Timberwolves: Jimmy Butler is selfish and an actor

Associated Press

Trade talks involving Jimmy Butler have been an issue for Minnesota for weeks now.Outside of the Heat, the Timberwolves have had no serious, active talks ongoing with any other team recently, league sources said.

The rumblings have been that there hasn't been too much of a market for Butler beyond Miami, which makes sense, because giving up players and picks for someone who can hit free agency at the end of the year is awfully risky.

Thibodeau, the Wolves' coach and president of basketball operations, said in late September that Butler's trade request hadn't come until the previous week. I was completely honest about everything.

However, Butler had already confirmed to ESPN's Rachel Nichols that the meeting did, in fact, occur on Thursday.

"It's not fixed", Butler said.

Butler wasn't made available to local media after Wednesday's practice, his first since he asked to be traded.

According to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, Butler stopped Towns in the post and talked some smack as well.

Butler, in the ESPN interview, insisted money is not his motivation - and indicated he's been unhappy in Minnesota for some time. "I'm sorry if I go about it the wrong way".

Neither Towns nor Wiggins confronted Butler at any point, league sources saidWhen practice concluded, Butler stormed out of the facility without stretching with the rest of his teammates, league sources said.

Butler said all of Nichols' information was accurate but added, "it's not about money". I think that we have guys here that if he's not here, we can play with.

According to ESPN NBA-knower Adrian Wojnarowski, Butler's discontent with the T-Wolves "appears to be his belief that not all of his teammates are committed to winning".

A Chicago reporter with knowledge of the situation said the friendship led Butler to stop seeing himself as an underdog and instead led him to view himself as a star. Like it or not, it wasn't just then, so we can put that to rest. "Whenever opening night happens, we'll go out there and play with who we've got".
