Chad Kelly released by Broncos following arrest in Colorado on trespassing charges

Denver Broncos Cut Chad Kelly After Bizarre Arrest

Denver Broncos quarterback Chad Kelly (6) looks on from the sideline in the third quarter against the Kansas City Chiefs at Broncos Stadium at Mile High. Kelly apparently went inside the residence as police were responding, sat down on a couch, and began mumbling incoherently. Police say they found the 24-year-old Kelly afterward parked nearby.

The Daily Mail reported that Kelly's first-degree criminal trespass charge is a Class 5 felony. Following that altercation, Kelly left the theatre before apparently wandering into the family's home.

About half an hour before the Broncos released him, Kelly appeared in Arapahoe County Court, where a court date of November 8 was set for filing charges.

Kelly, the Broncos' seventh-round pick in the NFL Draft, and the last selection overall, had a history of off-field incidents prior to the draft and was kicked off Clemson's roster for conduct detrimental to the team in 2014. "After reviewing all the information and in talking with [head coach Vance Joseph] and [CEO Joe Ellis], we agreed that releasing Chad was the right thing to do".

The Denver Broncos have made a decision to part ways with Chad Kelly in the wake of his arrest this week, and the quarterback reportedly was causing problems with the team before he was even taken into custody.

Kelly posted $2,500 bond and was released from police custody.

Kelly, who earned the nickname "Swag" in college and burnished it with terrific performances in the preseason last summer, ended up playing just one snap for the Broncos, a kneel-down just before halftime against the Rams on October 14 while Keenum was being evaluated for a concussion.

The Broncos are down another quarterback. Kelly's little brother had been hit out of bounds and a brawl ensued.

Kelly's latest criminal issue ended his run in Denver.
