BBC Newsnight: Jamal Khashoggi's fiancee on his murder

Turkey alleges a hit squad from Saudi Arabia travelled to Istanbul to kill the journalist who was critical of the Saudi leadership and then tried to cover it up. "That's an appropriate response while we continue to investigate and learn more about who in the Saudi government is responsible".

Mr Mojeb, who last week acknowledged that the killing was "premeditated" based on Turkish evidence, arrived in Istanbul this morning and is expected to inspect the Saudi consulate where Mr Khashoggi was killed.

Washington Post columnist Khashoggi's murder has escalated into a crisis for the world's top oil exporter as Saudi Arabia's allies have reacted with outrage.

Asked Monday what action the USA has taken nearly four weeks after Khashoggi's disappearance, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters that "the administration is considering what action we'll take moving forward" after Haspel gathered more intelligence and briefed the president.

She initially said that she would be interested in taking him up on the offer - if the United States "makes a genuine contribution to the efforts to reveal what happened inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul that day, I will consider accepting his invitation".

His fiancée, Hatice Cengiz, told an audience on a visit to London she was disappointed with Mr. Trump's approach.

In a moving tribute to Khashoggi - who was killed at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on October 2 - Cengiz called on the worldwide community to ensure there is no cover-up of his murder. He did not walk out of the consulate.

Ms Cengiz, who was waiting outside, raised the alarm after her fiancé didn't reappear after ten hours.

The Saudi minister vowed that the government will bring those responsible for the murder to justice.

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan, who Ms. Cengiz praised, has urged Riyadh to disclose who ordered the murder and prosecutors have prepared an extradition request for 18 suspects from Saudi Arabia. "If only I knew that would be the last time I would see my Jamal, his smile, hear his laughter, I would have stood in front of that murderous team myself", she said.

"Cengiz said she and the Turkish nation want all of those responsible including those who gave the order to those who carried it out, from the bottom to the top to be tried and to receive the necessary punishments according to worldwide law".

Cengiz said she had not been contacted by Crown Prince Mohammed or the Saudi Royal family, nor offered any condolences by them.

"Right now, there's more we still don't know than we know but we have our own Central Intelligence Agency and our own leadership that's on the ground in Turkey, helping to determine our investigation", said U.S. Sen.

"President Trump should help reveal the truth and ensure justice be served".

He clarified later that the murder and cover-up should have never happened.

"Let's not let money taint our conscience and compromise our values".

They say they have audio and video evidence to support this claim.

Cengiz met Khashoggi in May at a conference in Istanbul and their relationship blossomed.

Turkish law required that Khashoggi, who was divorced, provide proof that he did not have a wife and thus his trip to the consulate.

Under mounting worldwide pressure, Saudi Arabia has changed its narrative about Khashoggi's killing several times, only recently acknowledging that Turkish evidence shows it was premeditated.

"I believe the Saudi regime knows where his body is", she told the audience at the service, sponsored by the Middle East Monitor and Al Sharq Forum.

"The world should know who instigated, were involved in and committed this crime".
