Apple’s iOS 12.1 Drops Today, Includes Group FaceTime & New Emoji

iOS 12.1 Group FaceTime Compatibility: Will Your Device Support It?

Apple will also be adding new emojis in the update. Apple iPhone 5s, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will support only Group FaceTime audio-calls and not video calls. Just a day ahead of the event, Apple today announced that it will release a new update to iOS 12 tomorrow, introducing new features and enhancements.

Prior to the iOS 12.1, the newly launched iPhone XS, XS Max and the XR came with Depth Control feature, but the user could only use it after taking the photo. The update brings with it a host of new features, most important of which is the belated arrival of the group FaceTime feature.

iOS 12.1 also brings more than 70 new emoji to the iPhone and iPad, including new characters with red hair, grey hair and curly hair, a new emoji for bald people, more emotive smiley faces and additional emoji representing animals, sports and food. "A simple tap also brings a participant front and centre", Apple added.

The feature integrates with iMessage as well, meaning you can easily call your iMessage group from the Messages app anytime you want, and members can join at any time, even after the call has started.

With iOS 12 Apple insisted all its devices would be treated to a noticeable speed boost.

More news: Trump to visit Pittsburgh against the wishes of many Pittsburghers

The latest version of Apple's iPhone and iPad operating system, iOS 12, is out.

Most importantly, Apple has confirmed that the Group FaceTime session, be it one-to-one or multi-person, all are fully encrypted end to end so that they remain private and viewable only by the participants.

The services will be available on these Apple phones following the release of iOS 12.1 later today.

In all three of the 2018 iPhones, there is a physical nano-SIM slot as well as an eSIM slot which will allow users to use more than one carrier off their device. eSIM won't be readily available through all operators and the current list only include 14 operators, of which only 2 are available in India.

One new iPhone camera trick highlighted during Apple's September keynote this year was the ability to adjust the level of background blur in Portrait mode shots.
