Racist Robocalls Attack Georgia Dem. Gov. Candidate Abrams

Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams watch as former President Barack Obama speaks during a campaign rally at Morehouse College Friday Nov. 2 2018 in Atlanta

Georgia Republican gubernatorial candidate Brian Kemp - who also oversees his state's elections as secretary of state - told reporters on Monday he is "not anxious about how it looks" to launch an investigation into his opponents just two days prior to Election Day.

The Abrams campaign tried to encourage its supporters Tuesday evening, after a state judge ordered three precincts in suburban Gwinnett County - a populous swing county in metro Atlanta - to extend their polling hours, one of them as late as 9:25 p.m. He walked by reporters and said: "Take Two".

Kemp counters that Abrams and her backers want to help noncitizens cast ballots illegally.

"Tomorrow, show up and show out", she said.

The Kemp campaign's official robocalls went out as a series of unofficial, explicitly racist robocalls targeting Abrams have also been reported. "Her campaign spoke about partisanship and bringing people back together", Whatley said.

"I will not be a candidate for president in 2020", O'Rourke said.

The race between Kemp and Abrams, who could become the nation's first African-American woman to be elected governor, has been close and contentious. Despite security experts pointing out the flaws in Georgia's system, Kemp has expressly refused to make updates. Eyes from all over the country are on Georgia's race for governor.

The Republican nominee, Secretary of State Brian Kemp, has fashioned himself as Donald Trump in a plaid shirt from the beginning of the cycle.

They say an email to them from a man not affiliated with the Democratic Party of Georgia is what prompted Kemp's request for an investigation.

"These automated calls are being sent into homes just days before President Trump arrives, reminding voters exactly which political party is promoting a climate that champions this kind of vile, poisonous thinking", Abrams' press assistant Meredith Brasher added. As of Monday afternoon, FiveThirtyEight's gubernatorial forecast showed Abrams and Kemp locked in a tight content, with Kemp holding on to a very small advantage. It is also a fact that Brian Kemp is the last person who can be trusted on cyber security given his record of leaking the personal information and social security numbers of six million Georgians.

"Georgia is a safer, Georgia is stronger, and Georgia is winning like never before", Trump said.

Kemp has been trying to true the vote in Georgia, removing dead people from the rolls and also trying to remove the names of those who haven't voted in a while.

Stacey Abrams, who is now at a poll average of 45.7, sits on a campaign of encouraging younger voters to get their voices heard and take to the polling booths, hoping to expand Medicaid, which has raised a few eyebrows as well as other plans revolving around K-12 education and job creation. "You need to vote for us because we're better".

But even the policy debates have played out as much as cultural identity battles as they have nuanced debates over policy details.
